Terms of Service: Nordic Calendar
Last updated: 5 November 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use Nordic Calendar, the app for iPhone, iPad and Android, and its online services, such as sync between your devices and the page that shows your tasks in a browser. The app is made by Valorbyte Oy (Business ID 2940641-8), Finland ("we", "us").
By using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. You also follow the terms of the store you got the app from: Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions with its Licensed Application End User License Agreement, or the Google Play Terms of Service.
How we process personal data is described in our privacy policy, which is not part of these terms.
2. The app
Most of the app is free. Some features, marked Pro in the app, need a Pro subscription or an unlock code.
You do not need an account. Once you allow it, the app shows the calendars on your device (for example iCloud or Google), and the events you create or change are saved in those calendars, under the terms of the service that provides them.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the app for your own, non-commercial use.
3. Pro subscription
- Buying. Pro is sold as an automatically renewing subscription through the App Store or Google Play. The store takes the payment, and its terms govern billing. The price and the length of the period are shown in the app before you buy.
- Free trial. If a free trial is offered, the subscription starts automatically when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then. The app shows whether you are offered a trial, and the store's rules decide who is eligible.
- Renewal and cancelling. The subscription renews for the same period at the price then in force until you cancel it. You cancel in the subscription settings of the App Store or Google Play; deleting the app does not cancel it. After you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
- Price changes. If the price of your subscription changes, the store tells you in advance and asks for your consent to the new price where the law or the store's rules require it.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies; we cannot issue them ourselves. This does not affect your rights as a consumer under the law.
- Right of withdrawal. As a consumer in the EU or EEA you may have a statutory right of withdrawal. How it applies to purchases in the App Store or Google Play is described in the store's terms, and requests go to the store.
- On your other devices. Pro is tied to the store account you bought it with. If you sync your devices (section 4), Pro also applies on the other devices in your sync group as long as the subscription is active.
- Unlock codes. Pro can also be unlocked with a code we give out, for example in a campaign. A code is meant for the person who got it, cannot be exchanged for money and may have an end date. We can revoke a code that was obtained or shared against these terms.
4. Sync and the browser
Sync between your devices is optional. It is end-to-end encrypted: the key that opens your data exists only on your devices and in the copies you choose to make, such as a recovery link. We cannot read your synced data and cannot restore it for you.
- Keep the key and any recovery link to yourself. Anyone who has them can read your synced data.
- If you lose every device in your sync group and have no copy of the key, the synced data cannot be restored.
- The server deletes sync groups that have not been used for a long time, as the privacy policy describes. Sync is not a backup service, so also use the backups your device and your calendar service offer.
- Showing your tasks in a web browser is a Pro feature. The browser only reads your synced data and works as long as it stays paired.
5. Calendar information
The app shows information such as public holidays, name days, flag days, school holidays, weather forecasts, sunrise and sunset times, moon phases and articles. We compile it with care from public and official sources, but it can contain errors or change after we publish it. For anything important, such as school holiday dates or official holidays, check the official source.
Weather forecasts are estimates from a weather service and can be wrong.
Reminders and notifications are delivered by your device's operating system. Focus modes, battery saving or notifications that are turned off, for example, can delay or stop them, so do not rely on the app alone for anything critical, such as medication or safety.
6. Acceptable use
You may not:
- use the app or its online services against the law or other people's rights;
- disrupt or overload our servers, try to gain unauthorised access to them, or use them in ways the app does not, for example with automated requests;
- copy, sell or redistribute the app, or decompile it, except to the extent the law expressly allows;
- remove notices of ownership or present the app as your own.
If you break these terms, we can stop your access to the online services, such as sync, or revoke an unlock code. We tell you why, unless the law prevents it.
7. Intellectual property
The app, its design, texts, images and compiled calendar data belong to Valorbyte Oy or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms only give you the right to use the app as described here.
What you create in the app, such as events and tasks, is yours.
8. Changes to the app and its services
We develop the app continuously and can add, change or remove features. If a change takes away a significant part of what you pay for, we tell you in advance, and you can cancel the subscription before the change takes effect. Your statutory rights remain.
We can end an online service, such as sync, with reasonable notice. The data on your devices stays. The online services may require you to update the app to its latest version.
9. Liability
As a consumer you have the rights the law gives you when digital content or a digital service does not work as agreed, and nothing in these terms limits them.
Beyond those rights, the app and its free features are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as a missed appointment or lost data, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Pro in the 12 months before the event that caused the loss.
These limits do not apply to loss caused intentionally or through gross negligence, to personal injury, or to any other liability the law does not allow us to limit.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection that the mandatory law of the country where you live gives you.
Please contact us first; most problems can be solved by email. If we cannot agree, as a consumer you can take the dispute to a consumer dispute body, with help from the European Consumer Centre in your country, or bring it before the court where you live. Otherwise, disputes are resolved by the District Court of Helsinki.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the app or the law changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed. We tell you about significant changes in the app or in its store listing before they take effect. If you do not accept a change, you can stop using the app and cancel your subscription.
